About Klondike Solitaire
Klondike Solitaire is a one-player card game built around a simple goal: move all 52 cards onto four suit foundations, beginning with aces and ending with kings. On the tableau, careful moves reveal face-down cards and open up new possibilities. A short move can change the entire board.
This browser version on PlayVello includes hints, undo, and a choice of table and card themes. Play with a mouse on a computer or tap the cards on a phone. The game loads after you choose Start game, and your current board and settings are stored in this browser.
Klondike Solitaire rules
- Build each foundation in a single suit, starting with an ace and continuing in ascending order to the king.
- Arrange face-up tableau cards in descending order and alternate colors: place a red card on a black card, or a black card on a red card.
- Move a valid descending, alternating-color sequence together when the destination accepts its first card.
- Reveal face-down tableau cards by moving away the face-up cards above them.
- Only a king, or a valid sequence beginning with a king, can fill an empty tableau column.
- Draw from the stock when you need more cards. You win when all four foundations are complete.
Tips for your next game
- Look for moves that uncover face-down cards before making a move that only rearranges visible cards.
- Check the available tableau moves before drawing from the stock. A newly revealed card can open another route.
- Before clearing a column, consider whether you have a king available to use the empty space.
- Use a hint when you are stuck, and use undo to reconsider a move. A hint shows an available move, rather than a guarantee that it is the best move.
